Peter's world changes in the blink of an eye after his much loved father is killed in a farm accident. One minute Peter is enjoying a game of checkers with his grandfather, the next he's been transported to a farm field where he must listen to the rescue efforts being made to try to save his father. His good friend, Isaac, is right at his side and does his best to be there for Peter.
What I liked about this first chapter is that the story moves effortlessly from an afternoon of ease and enjoyment to one of dread. The author had my heart pounding in worry immediately once the transition of mood was completed.
