I was immediately drawn into this book from the description of the routine family life...end of the day, dinner in process, game of checkers with grandpa, waiting for dad to come home.
It is easy to fall in love with Pete from the first description of him wearing his dad's shirt because dad is is hero..didn't we all have heroes as children!!
The transition to the next scene makes my heart race as everyone gathers to help avert the crisis. I couldn't breathe as the scene started to unfold.
