I have 4 stars only because I haven’t read the entire book and only the first look. But so far it definitely has my attention. A small town story with mystery from the start. The author writes smoothly and the reader can picture and feel the story. It appears to be strongly about family relationships and secrets and the pressures of a small town on the secrets. The tale of the blackbirds is quite interesting and I can only guess is the first glimpse of the mysterious story and family background. I laughed when I read that blackbird pie was not made from blackbirds. I figured that was the case but the way the author went about telling this fact was well done. I will gladly read this book. Being a picky reader, this one has seemed to grab my attention. A book must grab my attention from the start for me to give it a chance.
