First of all, I don’t often read this genre of “women’s lit,” mostly because it doesn’t include murder, but I’m trying to expand my repertoire. Also, my mother-in-law practically shoved the book at me after she’d finished it, and I’m so glad that she did.
I have never before read a book that made me feel so much. I actually cried while reading this (but in a good way).
The characters (especially the two main protagonists, Natalie and Anna Kate) are so well written that they’re instantly relatable.
Natalie is a recently widowed mother of a toddler who has a strained relationship with her own mother while Anna Kate is a medical school student who recently inherited a cafe from her grandmother. What they have in common is pretty important to the plot, so I won’t spoil it.
This novel has a lot to say about friendship, family, and forgiveness and a little to say about how people handle loss and grief.
Five stars for making me feel feelings!
