With a gorgeous, delicious cover and an intriguing blurb, Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe presents itself as the sort of novel one can escape into. It's interesting enough to catch the eye of young readers, traditional to catch the regulars. For me, it made me long for homemade pie with my family back east.
The preview pulled me in right away, the first few chapters enticing the reader with secrets, emotions, and drama. I immediately liked the changing character POVs, telling us right away that this story involves two families with a river between them, two families that might finally need to face the past. I love books with a hint of magic in them and Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe seems to tell a magical story about love, loss, and the value of memories, as well as the people who can help you remember them. I so want to read more, right now if I could. It's lyrical, unique, and very captivating.
