The book was an easy read. The plot was tepid. A decent summer beach read because it’s not intellectually challenging. The main character is interesting but the fact that his life unravels at every aspect, at the same time, seemed too forced. A man who is mistaken for Kumar when his name is Raj should have attempted to address the untenable situation way before his life unravels and at a disadvantage in his life. It was a book about a brown man in a white world. Condemned and prosecuted unnecessarily. A topic so important should have had more to say. The book seemed to want to address a topic without addressing it too closely. Coming from a similar background I felt the book should have made more of an effort to tackle the problem one experiences living not fully accepted where they call a place “home”.
