A super interesting read
This book follows one week in the life of Dr. Raj Bhatt, an anthropologist, husband and father living in California. Originally from India, Raj is a part of a private Tennis Club and is the only member of color. When the club interviews a new couple, Raj makes a mistake that causes his entire life to fall into disarray. I really enjoyed this book. The writing is from the perspective of Raj, and the author (Sameer Pandya) did a really great job of getting you into his headspace. I cringed for him, felt empathy for him, felt annoyed at him, all as if all of the missteps and injustices were happening to me. I originally picked this book because I read the first chapter and thought it was interesting. What I did not expect was to cry at the end of a book about a tennis club! This book falls into the category of one of my favorite kinds of writing; it's not the over the top heartbreaking content that makes you sad with its tragedy, but shows how painful everyday life can be that really breaks your heart.
