My first impression of this book shouts "beach read" loud and clear. The sunshine, the pool, and the tennis ball all promise good times, while the title implies an elite country club setting. A skim of the synopsis though lets me know this book takes on some very important topics: race and racism; how our words label us and can be hard to shake off; how trying to fit in can feel impossible when you don't look like the majority. I can't wait to dive right into the depths of these subjects!
