I've read a lot of Persephone and Hades kidnapped retelling. Neon Gods has been especially popular in Booktok and Bookstagram. However, I will say I liked this version better. May be it was the Biopoc representation or maybe it was the storyline itself. I believe it was the combination of the two together that made this story as engaging and interesting.
The Female main character (fmc) was my favorite and the male main character (mmc) was very different from what I expected him to be like. It takes guts and audacity (he fortunately has both) to just meet someone and then just decide to kidnap them. The FMC doesn't even know why she is being kidnapped. She ends up at the palace, and the servants are just like "you're the bride". I found the court politics to be a little confused in the beginning but was able to make more sense of what was going on as the story progressed.
