I always loved Greek myth especially the love story of Persephone and Hades, so I was amazed when I started reading Masquerade I realized, that this book was a retelling of the Greek couple but Nigeria style. I really like that it's not a typical Greek story ( there are so many of those already) but an African story with myth and folklore related to them plus Persephone and Hades, my favorite couple in the Greek pantheon, are black. I can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy to finish the story. Wow, this book was great! Extremely well-written, descriptive, and powerful, this is the story of a young woman who is kidnapped from her position as a blacksmith and taken in to be the wife of the king and how she has to learn how to survive away from her mom and community.
