I have played several different collectable card game, and most of them used Magic: The Gathering rules as their basic rules. Magic was the first card game to catch on after Dungeons and Dragons, which is not a card game. These games are fun. They let you pretend to be wizards or warriors or Fae without needing one person to guide the play. It was great for friends who didn't want to bring out board games to have a fun gaming evening, or afternoon since the games could run for a while.
