Great resource for serious collectors

I'm not actually all that familiar with MTG, but I am a casual fan of all things spooky and magic. I liked looking at the artwork, and loved the peek I got into the rich history of MTG fandom. And, I liked that the author's tone was so conversational. It's clearly a friendly fan/collector community, based on the author's willingness to engage with his readers. But, I'm so much of a beginner that I don't even really know how to play MTG or what the different elemental cards mean, so a good chunk of this went over my head. From what I can tell from this excerpt, this book lives up to its title. It's for serious collectors. I'm not quite the right audience for this one, but I bet it would make a fantastic gift for the right fan. Or, if you're trying to get into the world of collecting, I'm sure this would be an indispensable resource.
