First off let me say I was excited to read this book. I loved the comparisons to Harry Potter. This book certainly didn’t let me down. I love the magic system. The adventure was fresh and interesting. The boarding school aspect didn’t feel like the same story we’ve seen a million times before. This book read like a fantastical murder mystery. Almost as if a muggle went to solve crime at Hogwarts! I do wish we would have gotten more background into the school. Ivy did whine a lot and at first it annoyed me, but the more I got to know her I more I understood it was helpful in her character development (at least for me). You don’t see people saying Harry Potter whined a lot because just like Ivy it was needed to know who he was and what he came from. Loved the book. Really hope it gets a sequel or spin off!!
