I was hooked on this book immediately. The Harry Potter vibes and subtle references are all there but not so over the top that they're annoying. I think I noticed the references to Harry Potter within the first chapter so they're everywhere and I really enjoyed that. This genre, fantasy, is pretty new to me and I would say this is a great book for those new to fantasy. The magic is easy to follow and not overly complicated and the characters were funny and likable. I loved the sister relationship between Ivy and Tabitha and was reminded a bit of my relationship with my sisters. This was a great debut and I am looking forward to more from this author!
