Magic for Liars by Sarah Gailey is not what I expected, in a good way. Honestly, I am not really the biggest fan of books involving magic. And yes, that means that I don't like Harry Potter. Anyways, I digress. Going into this book, admittedly, my expectations were kind of low and I wasn't expecting to like it. However, the way that Gailey writes is extremely descriptive, detailed, and utterly captivating. I felt like I had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen to Ivy. Her character is relatable in some ways and likeable in so many other ways. I was completely invested in her story, and I was rooting for her the entire story. This is a book I would definitely recommend, especially for those who love the fantasy genre. And for those who are looking for a book to "get their feet wet" in a different kind of story, I would definitely recommend Magic for Liars.
