Magic for Liars was a good read, I just didn't connect with the characters. It was interesting, though at times over my head with the magic talk, and the main character, Ivy, was likable enough. Sometimes she was annoying in her self-deprecating manner. The story kept things interesting though. You could catch glimpses into who the murderer was at times, but I never would have thought she was murdered for the reason she was. That was a twist I didn't see coming! Overall, it was an interesting, casual read and would appeal to anyone who likes to read books in the fantasy/magic genre. A new and different insight that's not Hogwarts based is refreshing. And seeing magic from an adult's perspective through the teachers at the school is neat too.
