This story had potential but I had trouble with the writing from the beginning. The protagonist is a private, non-magic, investigator who's twin sister is a mage and teacher at the local magic high school. It's just like your high school with locker graffiti, bullying and teenage sex. There's a murder and the protagonist is asked to come investigate knowing she will open some old wounds by associating with her estranged twin sister. The story fails in its lack of interesting, compelling characters. Then there's the added cliche's (PI that drinks too much, mean girls, teenage pregnancy, twins). It was boring and trite but I did finish it and I'm grateful to Bookish Firsts for providing me with the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
