Started strong, but ultimately disappointing

The prologue was incredibly intriguing. At first I felt like this could be a Young Adult fantasy novel geared to compete in the class of Harry Potter. However, as soon as Chapter 1 began in Ivy's point of view, something was seriously lacking. Ivy has been living in the shadow of her exceptional twin sister all her life. I get it. But there is something abhorrently unattractive about a thirty-something woman who bumbles about, wishing she could relive her teenage years. She is a less than mediocre private investigator who doesn't even flinch at just handing her mugger her cash and letting him get away, EVEN AFTER he falls down the stairs and directly into her. What the hell. Stand up for yourself, woman!
