The cover is striking--I love a dramatic book cover. People who say that they don't judge a book by its cover, in my experience, are usually lying. Covers set both the tone and the stage for the novel that you are about to read. The synopsis sounds fascinating. Family dynamics in fantastic situations are always a good bet. Who doesn't understand a problematic family? Put into the context of magic as a gift or magic as a curse and you're sure to pique readers' interest. I've been looking forward to this book for a while. I have it reserved at my local library!
