I just finished the excerpt. It threw me at the beginning. I thought I was reading a book similar to Harry Potter and it peaked my interest, then the murder happened and left me on the edge, but not in a good way more of a confused way. Then it jumped to present day. This portion was like a slow murder mystery. I would have finished the book just to see if it would pick up or make more sense.
