The prologue was wild! And a little creepy. I didn't realize how atmospheric and thrilling this book was going to be, but I'm definitely liking the direction.
And then there was the first chapter, the official start of the story. I loved Ivy's voice, and thought by giving it a gritty, devil-may-care noir-like vibe, the author has a managed a nice setup for a detective story.
All I can say is, I'm hooked! I love a good murder mystery, especially one with magic. I'm hoping we'll see more paranormal aspects as the story progresses, but the prologue and the first four chapters here definitely have me curious about what happened at Tabitha's school and I want to know how Ivy will get down to the bottom of it.
