First: Skip the prologue. It's wholly unnecessary, and also doesn't give the best impression of the book—the regular chapters are written much better. The first real chapter makes the most of its only three pages—it really hooked me! I like Ivy's voice, and I love the premise; this combination of murder mystery and magic—at a magic school unlike any other I've encountered before—feels incredibly new and fresh. Even if I don't win this raffle, I'll be snagging this book as soon as it comes out!
