I picked up this book mainly because the blurb says it was inspired by Bonnie and Clyde –– and if you know one thing about me, it's that I love reading about outlaws and criminals. On that front, this book absolutely did NOT disappoint. I was absolutely delighted by the Bonnie and Clyde comparisons and how Shane and Ava's story mirrored real-life history.

This was a compelling, fast-paced read. I read the first part last night and finished it this afternoon in one sitting. While the narrative does sort of jump around from point to point (and if you're not paying attention while reading, you might miss something), I didn't find that the fast-paced nature took away from the plot or the character development, and was overall fitting for the vibe of the book.

I would have liked to have seen Cyrus and Lark's relationship develop more. The ending of this book makes it feel like it's a standalone and we didn't really get a lot between them over the entire novel. If this book has a sequel, I think the slow burn makes sense and would bridge nicely into the next novel; however, I felt like it wasn't developed as much as Ava and Shane's and left me wanting more.

Overall, however, this was a super enjoyable ride! A strong 4 stars from me.
