Jade needed an adventure, especially the Campus on Board journey to eleven countries in four months.
Dropped by her boyfriend Silas and her best friend Lainey simultaneously, Jade craved distance from her life. Though the plan had been to set sail with Lainey, Jade thought she would never show her face after what she did. When they both appeared in line for boarding, Jade's heart almost stopped. Will the journey of a lifetime be turned into a nightmare?

This YA mystery included a cast of characters that seemed more juvenile than their ages should suggest. The dialogue, coupled with certain plot points, pointed to high schoolers than college students. I liked the "trapped at sea" aspect, but the backstabbing and sabotage I could do without. Jade was way more in the dark than she should have been, especially since her new friends could have helped her find out what had happened in the past to garner the animosity.

Overall, I did not enjoy Lying in the Deep as much as I had hoped, but it did make waiting for the doctor a little more interesting.
