This YA thriller begins with main character, Jade, waiting to board the Campus on Board ship which will visit 11 countries in 4 months. We are introduced to Jade, and her ex-best friend Lainey, and her ex-boyfriend, Silas, who are now a couple and are boarding the same ship for the Campus on Board program. As we begin to learn more about Jade and her obsession with Lainey and Silas, I struggled to like or connect with her character. She comes across as a stalker. As the book continued, I also struggled with making sense of some of Jade's choices and actions. However, without giving to much away, we are provided more backstory that does help explain Jade's actions.
Overall, the main star of this book is the cruise ship setting and location travel. The ship environment makes a great setting as the story progresses. There are only so many students on board-- who knows what and what did everyone do? Find out in this fun @ sea thriller-- Lying in the Deep.
