The prologue depicts a blood-soaked murder. The excerpt of ‘Lying in the Deep’ then becomes a lesson in how to be ghosted and gaslighted by your nemeses in the close confines of a cruise ship. There is humour too, often from her twins\ roomies, “can you not say the word sinking for the next few months”. And there are contemporary similes, “her cackling laughter dispersed in the air like a virus”, referring to her enemy. Lying in the Deep by Diana Urban seems like a cool psychological thriller. I want to know why Jade’s previous BFF and BF have ditched her and want nothing to do with her. Is she not as lilywhite as she portrays? Of course, I want to read the rest! Pick me – please.
