An Opening Line that Draws you into the Story Immediately

Wow! The opening line comparing bloodstains to ice cream stains made me laugh and then dive into the story. The YA crime mystery angle was fun and I told felt for the main teenage character wanting vengeance after her boyfriend left her for her best friend. The author's way of highlighting the humor while also telling a murder story was expertly done. Would love to finish this story and see where Jade's tail goes.
