This book has been on my top anticipated reads of 2024 ever since it was announced, so I had high expectations going in. I'm happy to report it does not disappoint! I'd say the overarching theme in this story would be love and relationships, whether it be familial, friendships, community, romantic (obviously), how grief affects the relationship with yourself and those around you, etc. I love the use of colors as part of the storytelling (bright coloring when Val is feeling happy and more muted, darker colors when she is feeling more depressed), and I was pleasantly surprised by the slight twist/reveal about Val's family.

I planned on only reading a bit before bed and waking up to finish the rest, but the story hooked me in so much that I ended up staying up late and reading it in one sitting. I laughed, cried, and felt all the feels. I'll definitely be re-reading this closer to Lunar New Years!
