This was a great young adult coming of age graphic novel. Lunar New Year Love Story had a wonderful story and excellent illustrations throughout. I loved the art style and color palettes used throughout the pages. This was such a heartwarming graphic novel about family, fate and forgiveness. This book follows Valentina who once loved Valentine’s Day, but after being told the truth about her mom, she stops believing in true love. She is then told that she and her family are cursed to always be unlucky in love. But Val is determined to change her destiny after a lion dancer gives her a paper heart one at a Lunar New Year’s festival.
Overall this was an enjoyable young adult story with so much packed into it. I really enjoyed reading this graphic novel. If you are looking for a captivating young adult rom-com book you should consider checking this one out.
