I really enjoyed this young adult graphic novel. For me, while the storyline was really strong and pulled me into and through the story, the piece that made me want to stay in the story was the artwork, which is absolutely gorgeous. The color palette is vibrant and really well chosen, with spreads often having a primary color scheme, but sometimes interrupted with an accent color to draw attention to an important panel. Each character is depicted with so many unique emotions as the storyline continued. This is a coming of age story, but it is also about family secrets and navigating the part of life when you start to realize that the story you have always told yourself is not the full picture and coming to terms with that change. This is represented really well with the way that Saint Valentine is depicted differently as the story goes on. Highly recommend for 8th grade and up!
