What a jam-packed start of the book! Valentina loves Valentine's Day, so much that she makes cards every year for her class with little sayings with her "imaginary friend" Saint V. We're already introduced to how Valentine's day used to go and how this year's is going, with Valentina now a freshman in high school.
That is all to say... how does this all connect to the Lunar New Year? I can't say, it's almost a little jarring, but I hope the rest of the book explains the title.
I really enjoyed the art style, especially as the colors shifted from happy to sad as the pages continued from Valentine's Day to the church.
