I'm a Neophyte to This Genre, So I Hope My Opinion Counts

So surprisingly touching. I am not an experienced reader when it comes to the genre of graphic novels, having read only a few pages here and there, but something about this book appealed to me immediately. From the freckles on the nose of the young female protagonist to the exuberance of youth conveyed so clearly through the illustrations. Those made me remember the excitement of valentine exchanges in elementary school and the fun I had when my mother would take me shopping to buy my valentines - enough for everyone in the (big) classes. However, importantly, the story is appealing; I was shocked at the emotional twist. I want to know how this situation will be resolved, and that is why I am giving this book a 5 instead of a 4.
