Heartfelt story with a (possible) dark twist?

I'm intrigued by this story! Who wants Val's heart? The illustrations are incredibly beautiful, and I love the use of red hues, it definitely makes me think of the Lunar New Year. I noticed the shift to gray tones as Val's perception of life and people changes – it's so clever! I am invested in the main character and her journey. What will it take for Val to regain her faith in love and people? The unexpected cliffhanger completely caught me off guard! I also want to learn more about Val's imaginary friend. I'd love to read the rest of the story! The cover is very pretty! I love the colors and dragon in the background.
