I can't imagine I will ever NOT love a project that Gene Luen Yang is involved in. This one is no different: the use of color (specifically rosy pink) to convey innocence and childhood is lovely, and the way the color palette shifted to army greens and greys over the course of these pages is beautiful. The plot twist we get hit with at the end of this first look is killer. I wasn't sure how I felt about valentines and the Cupid/St. V character, but I love how it works in the context of the story. I can't wait to read more when this comes out, as I don't believe I'm eligible to win a copy. Now I'll need to check out the other creator!
