Love People, Use Things manages to feel both specifically helpful at points and vague and ambiguous in others. I mean this both in the context of providing helpful advice as well as within the concept of people versus things. There are many pieces that are thought provoking, but there are also times where the author falls back on referencing someone else's book, philosophy, blog, podcast, etc. as a source point for people to refer to. This definitely provides the readers with many tools to improve their life, but doesn't serve the purpose of them picking up this particular book to learn how to do so. And while many of the recommendations are useful, throughout most of the book these recommendations take a "go big, or go home (and throw away all your things)" approach instead of a baby steps approach. Some people may not feel comfortable with a packing party in a single room, let alone their whole entire house, but it never feels like there's guidance for starting by cleaning out a single drawer, eliminating a single bad eating habit, walking away from the single most toxic person in your life, etc. I will confess that as, reading this for review, I did not walk through the coda sections at the end of each chapter - but I will also confess that most of it felt a little on the corny side. There's plenty of things to like about the advice in this book, it just feels like it needs to be applicable in small or big doses, and needs to be better consolidated within the body of the book, with references consolidated more heavily within the references section.
