I do think we are in search of meaning and we are “chained” to the American trajectory for our life. We must stop going in that direction to reach a satisfactory journey for our lives. I think all these things that are mentioned – dollars, trinkets, and social media clout – may be indicative of bigger issues we have inside ourselves.
I like the no junk rule because I think it is interesting to think about how most of things we own is nonessential.
I have many thoughts on how the minimalism/consumerism conversation is getting used now. I think one of my issues with how people can come at the consumerism/minimalism conversation is judging peoples lives- how much they spend/do not spend, if what they buy is necessary, what people own is necessary, etc. I think people feel a way about minimalism because not everyone is going to be a minimalist neither is everyone their way of life going to fit others definition of minimalism. So, I like that early on it is emphasized that minimalism is different for everyone.
I liked it and think it is going to be through provoking.
