I find a lot of self-help books often start with a real-life anecdote of people whose lives have been positively impacted by the advice they will be presenting in the book, and this one was no exception. What is supposed to make you feel inspired to make the same changes in your life seems to me like talking down to people whose lifestyle doesn't align with the "ideal" presented. While sure, buying too many things to keep up appearances of wealth while accruing debt isn't good, many people won't be presenting that extreme. I don't know, I'm not making much sense, but I won't be picking up this book, it's just not for me
