Made me stop and examine my lifestyle

I like that this book opens with an example of one couple whose descent into empty consumerism shows firsthand what the book will be about. It's easy to talk about these ideas in the abstract, so seeing concrete examples and how these ideas apply to real people is helpful. Also, let's be honest -- we all are living consumerist lives that should be simplified! This really makes me stop and examine my lifestyle and what I can and should be simplifying.
