I will be honest, I mainly wanted to like this book because I loved the cover and wanted it for my book shelves. However, this story turned out to be an absolutely amazing read! I really enjoyed the characters, I loved the setting and plot and on top of all of that the writing was really excellent. I very much enjoyed the slow burn of this story, the building of the mystery and tension and you continued to read and unfold the story. This buildup is key for me when I read a thriller/mystery book. Too many times authors get this buildup wrong and it ruins the whole story for me. Luckily, Stephen Amidon got this part right and the reward was so worth it! I am usually pretty good at guessing who did it in books like this, and I did end up having my suspicions in this one but I was still very happy with the way this book ended and I was intrigued until the very end.
