A young women is murdered in a wealthy suburban town and the “elite” close ranks. Several high school students were with her when she was killed and they aren’t saying anything. The parents become very involved in covering up for their kids Eden, the young woman killed, comes from a lower class background and the prime suspect is a wealthy boy who has a reputation for covering up bad behavior. A young woman had accused him of sexual assault a few years earlier and his parents paid her off. There were themes of racism, sexual assault, harm of a dog and alcohol abuse. This was a slow burn read that had a satisfying ending. This sounds like a YA novel but reads like an adult mystery. I really did enjoy this book and it was my first read of this author. I would recommend this to any of my friends who enjoy thrillers and I also really loved the cover!!
