I liked Locust Lane. It would be an ideal book open for discussion in a book club. As a parent myself, I wonder how far would I go to protect my young adult children. We see in the news frequently families that go to any lengths to get their kids in ivy league colleges or professional sports teams. This book brings up the idea of what really is right and wrong. Do more economically affluent families have the same rules as other families in life. Is it ok to go to any length to protect your child at the expense of others.
The characters were well formed and their relationships intense. the unspoken rivalry that was under the surface come crashing to the top. "Keeping up with the JOnes" . How far is too far? Does wealth create more power? The book's ending was well timed and made sense. But it does lead to a whole lot more questions about our society and our neighborhoods that we live in.
