Held My Attention

I was so excited to read Locust Lane by Stephen Amidon after reading a blurb about it. A woman murdered in an affluent Boston suburb and the search to discover who did it.
The book is written from five different prospectives and at first it was hard to keep track of who was who. You have Patrick, the guy who was drunk but possibly witnessed something. Celia, Alice, and Michel, mom, stepmom, and father of the kids partying with the dead girl. And Danielle, mother to Eden, the girl who was murdered.
While Locust Lane held my attention, I found most of the characters to be completely unlikeable.
I will say that I did not suspect the twist that was thrown in. But the book end sort of abruptly, in my opinion, and while that leaves the reader to speculate the multitude of ways the story could have played out, I would have preferred to have a definitive ending.

Additionally, I received an advanced readers copy of the book, so the final publication may be different, but the author’s overuse of characters saying, “no, yeah.” drove me absolutely mad.
