"Locust Lane" by Stephen Amidon was a decent mystery. The characters live in the prosperous town of Emerson, Massachusetts. The murder of young Eden Perry, an outsider, brings the affluent and powerful community together to protect their own. Mr. Amidon did a wonderful job of developing a plot that kept the reader intrigued and guessing until the end of the novel. The characters are well defined and come across as realistic in this fiction mystery thriller. Jack, a popular student with a mean streak befriends Christopher, another outsider, who will do anything to remain Jack's friend. When Christopher becomes a suspect and eventually arrested for Eden's murder, the reader is challenged to determine if the evidence truly leads to Christopher, or is there another less likely suspect? Jack and Christopher's family and acquaintances also have secrets to keep.
