I don't usually like reading thrillers because I can't take much suspense or unpredictability, but the writing in this novel may change my mind. I'm immediately intrigued by the character development in the prologue, which convinced me to keep reading even as the first chapter introduced the death on which the premise centers. The cover is simple, with an image of fall foliage and a stylized title, but I like simple design, and this worked for me.
