Full disclosure, my usual genres of preference do not include serious murder mysteries (comedic ones, yes, but not thriller-like ones). Even so, I am occasionally pleasantly surprised. However, I could barely get through this first portion of the book - it was rather slow at first and then the style of the writing that follows is staccato enough to not sit well with my reading preferences. So an overall fail for me and I won't be seeking out the book to read further. Good cover for the book, though, reflects the mystery and suspense of the book very nicely.
