I'm super sensitive to animal deaths or injuries of any kind. Since this one opens with a dog being hit by a car, it's no surprise that I'm instantly turned off by the story. The dog isn't dead, but the vividness of the noises and how it nurses it's injury was just too much for me to keep reading and not a good sign for a book for me personally.
