Okay. Nope. This is obviously not for me. This book opens with a man hitting a dog in a residential neighborhood in the middle of the night. He gets out of the car to try and help the dog, who is already showing signs of recovery. Based on what?! He see a guy hiding in the bushes and so does the dog, who starts growling. He runs back to his car and ends of slamming the dogs head in the car. He wonders if the guy hiding in the bushes had "given the dog some sort of secret attack command?" What?! Maybe the guy was hiding in the bushes to see what he was going to do? Kill the poor dog? Nah, sorry, might be a great book but not for me if this is how it opens.
