This First Look at Locust Lane appeals to me on basically ever level. I love the cover image of fall foliage and a car on a lonely highway, which can seem bucolic or menacing depending on where the author takes the plot. With the first sentence, "He hit the dog on Locust," it seems that things will trend toward the menacing. I'm intrigued by each of the characters that were introduced in this generous 48-page excerpt. The storylines that include teen characters as well as their parents' generation make this a strong choice for a crossover read for mature young adults. I cant wait to read more, and I'm especially curious to see how the audiobook version of Locust Lane will be produced; I'm hoping for a full cast recording!
