The blurb really pulled me in. The first line of the prologue startled me. I hate it when an animal gets hurt in a story. Despite the jarring, I was soon pulled into this murder mystery/thriller. I don't read these kinds of stories often, but if they pull me in quickly I'll spend the time in it.
