To start, I really liked the cover art, especially the color pattern and the way the title and some of the images were glossy and embossed. The cover art is of a similar theme to the other covers from the Merciful Crow series. It will be very eye catching on store shelves.
Also, fantasy books aren't usually my thing, but I thought the book was very well written. I haven't read any of the author's previous books, but I thought that she did a great job with developing Vanja's character as well as several others: Fortune, Death, etc. The author did a great job telling a good story.
I will definitely recommend this book to fans of this genre as it's not just a one dimensional fantasy about gods. It's a nice mix of suspense, action, romance, greed, mystery, etc. It's a fantasy with modern day, real world, themes, like greed, that the reader can relate to.
